The Old Forge trail system has been (hopefully only) temporarily closed as of today.
"The Town of Webb/Inlet Snowmobile Trails were temporarily closed at 8AM Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
The temporary closure is primarily for public safety. Natural resources and equipment preservation are also prime considerations. Conditions will be monitored daily, and the trails will be reopened if possible. Substantial snowfall and cold temperatures will be required.
Recent unseasonable weather has resulted in rapid degradation of trail conditions. Many areas are now unsafe for travel, due to lack of coverage, icy conditions, and minor flooding. Any minor snowfall now will only thinly cover potential hazards.
Notification signs are being posted at main entry points to the trail system, and access gates will be closed where possible."
Maybe this snow that is in the forecast for the next couple days will bring enough snow for the trails to be re-opened for the weekend die-hards.
